HSBC Aligns 50+ Leaders on AI Deployment, Governance, & Use Cases with Exec Enablement Program
Overview
HSBC Vietnam, part of the leading international bank with a #1 position in Large Corporate Banking and Corporate Cash Management across Asia, partnered with Neurons Lab and AWS to accelerate AI adoption across its corporate, wealth, and private banking divisions. The workshop, delivered on 20 November 2025, brought together HSBC Vietnam’s banking leaders to translate AI potential into a concrete, executable roadmap.
The engagement combined executive AI literacy, hands-on technical training, banking-specific use case mapping, and a structured 30–90 day action plan tailored to HSBC Vietnam’s priorities across corporate banking, wealth management, and private banking.

Challenges
HSBC Vietnam’s leadership recognized AI as a once-in-a-generation opportunity, but execution required closing the gap between strategic intent and production-ready systems.
- Fragmented AI Decision-Making: Leadership needed a shared framework to move from isolated use cases toward an integrated AI operating model.
- Wealth Management Productivity Gap: Relationship Managers needed AI-enabled tools to lift AUM per advisor and capture local wealth creation opportunities.
- Governance Complexity: Deploying AI at scale within a regulated banking environment required clear principles and a robust risk management framework.
- Capability Building Across Roles: Both technical and non-technical teams needed practical, hands-on experience with AI to move beyond theoretical understanding.
- Translating Strategy to Action: Leadership needed a concrete plan to prioritize quick-win deployments versus transformational ecosystems and avoid investment in low-ROI use cases.
Solution
Neurons Lab designed and delivered a full-day executive workshop combining strategic context, technical foundations, banking-specific use case mapping, governance frameworks, and a structured action-planning session.
- Executive AI Literacy: The workshop grounded leadership in the core distinctions between AI, Machine Learning, Generative AI, and Agentic AI — equipping decision-makers with the precise vocabulary needed to evaluate vendors, allocate resources, and challenge proposals.
- Hands-On Prompt Engineering: Participants worked through guided sessions on prompt engineering, RAG-based report analysis, and deep research workflows — gaining practical experience applying AI tools to real banking scenarios.
- Banking-Specific Use Case Mapping: Customer journey frameworks across Corporate Banking, Wealth Management, and Private Banking mapped AI use cases to each lifecycle stage and segmented opportunities by value and ease of deployment.
- AI Governance Framework: The workshop introduced governance principles and a multi-layer risk management framework covering the full AI lifecycle, with concrete banking examples to operationalize compliance and accountability.
- 30–90 Day Action Plan: The session closed with a structured action-planning exercise covering pilot selection, an upskilling program, and prioritization of HSBC Vietnam’s own ideas based on impact and feasibility.
Results
- Strategic Alignment: HSBC Vietnam’s banking leadership left with a unified AI operating model integrating business domain mapping, governance, and process transformation.
- Prioritized Roadmap: A clear pipeline of quick-win deployments and transformational ecosystems mapped to ease-of-deployment and value.
- Quantified Business Case: ROI modeling for the Wealth Management RM Productivity Assistant projected 108% ROI in Year One under conservative assumptions.
- Hands-On Capability: Participants gained working proficiency in prompt engineering, RAG workflows, and agentic AI orchestration — applied directly to banking scenarios.
- Governance Foundation: A defensible governance framework ready to operationalize across high-stakes use cases including credit decisions, trade execution, and customer-facing systems.
Conclusion
This engagement demonstrates how leading banks can translate AI strategic intent into measurable business outcomes — most importantly, increasing AUM per Wealth Manager and freeing advisor capacity for higher-value client work. The workshop established a foundation for future engagements including pilot deployment of the Wealth Management RM Productivity Assistant, Corporate Customer Onboarding Automation, and a structured upskilling program.
