PrivatBank Leverages Generative AI Training to Support its Award-winning Marketing Department

PrivatBank is the largest bank in Ukraine and is known for its innovative approach to banking, particularly in digital services.
Established in 1992, it plays a major role in Ukraine retail and business banking. PrivatBank was nationalized in 2016 and is now state-owned.
Its annual revenue in 2023 was $1.53 trillion, a 14% increase year-on-year. The bank offers a range of services – including retail banking, SME banking, corporate banking, and international money transfers through its popular platform Privat24.
Privat24 is PrivatBank’s flagship digital platform, offering online and mobile banking. It allows customers to manage accounts, transfer money, pay bills, and apply for services all from their mobile devices.
Project Overview
Neurons Lab partnered with Visa to support the PrivatBank marketing department with GenAI Enablement.
It’s a service that empowers teams with hands-on training in market-leading generative AI tools, to increase productivity and unlock new opportunities.
Soon after taking our GenAI Enablement training, PrivatBank won Best Marketing Team at the Effie Awards Ukraine 2024, the most prestigious annual prize in Ukraine marketing communications.
For this GenAI Enablement training program, aims included providing the PrivatBank marketing team with:
- Basic AI knowledge: Understanding technology capabilities and limitations in GenAI, plus how to leverage it for process and task optimization.
- Clear understanding of tools: Developing a solid grasp of the purpose and functionality of various AI tools.
- Hands-on experience: Sufficient practical training to apply these tools effectively in real-world work scenarios.
- Effective communication: Ability to actively share the benefits of using these tools with colleagues.
- Data-driven approach: Ability to collect and analyze data, then produce high-quality presentations for stakeholders and creative content based on data insights.
The PrivatBank marketing department consists of digital marketing and marketing communication teams.
Among our learners were department heads, project managers, copywriters, designers, SEO specialists, a creative director, and advertising managers.
Business Goals and Challenges
The PrivatBank marketing department wanted to leverage GenAI to support several business goals, including:

Solution
The GenAI Enablement course for the PrivatBank marketing department included 5 training sessions:
- Intro to GenAI: AI foundation and literacy, prompt engineering, use-cases review, and engaging group work
- Workshop #1: GenAI for creative work: Covering text, image, and video generation
- Workshop #2: GenAI for data analytics & visualization: Structured and unstructured data analysis, including correlations finding and insights visualization
- Workshop #3: Custom workshop: Based on PrivatBank’s bespoke requests, covering advanced analytics and building custom GPTs
- Retrospective session: Analyzing results and progress, resolving final queries with Q&As, exploring continuous learning opportunities, and discussing the future integration of GenAI
No coding skills were required for the GenAI Enablement educational program, opening access to any non-technical marketing team members.
Through immersive, practical training sessions, the marketing team learned how to use a wide range of cutting-edge GenAI tools to solve their business challenges.
These tools included ChatGPT, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, Leonardo AI, HeyGen, Perplexity AI, Amazon Quick Site, Gamma, and more.
All training sessions included theoretical parts, demonstrations, practical tasks, and engaging group work to create a hands-on experience.
Results
The PrivatBank marketing department gave very positive feedback for the GenAI Enablement program, with scores including:
Post-training, the PrivatBank marketing department has:
- Improved communication – for example, by using more structured and thorough emails
- Created clearer technical tasks and tender procurement descriptions
- Improve creativity, even from those in non-creative roles
- Started creating GenAI-led presentations to save time
In addition, designers have started using AI for creative inspiration and layout examples for greater efficiency.
